IBBL (Integrated BioBank of Luxembourg) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marc Vandelaer as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO). Mr Vandelaer has a combined experience of 9 years in the scientific and medical field, and 15 years of experience in IT Project/Programme Management with several large international companies.

After obtaining his Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Marc Vandelaer started his career as a Research Scientist in cell and molecular biology. In 2001, he co-founded ICTribe, an ICT company specialised in eBusiness services, which became Mondiala Technology Europe in 2002. A few years later he joined Siemens Belgium as a senior Project Manager, supervising the implementation of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) at large international companies.

In 2008, Mr Vandelaer joined the Eurofins Group in Luxembourg and was IT Programme Director responsible for the selection, development and deployment of IT systems to support pharmaceutical and agroscience studies.
Dr Catherine Larue, Chief Executive Officer of IBBL comments: “It is important for a biobank to store not only high quality tissues and samples but also to provide the same quality of data associated with those biospecimens. This double condition is key for proposing the best offer to researchers and to our customers. We are convinced that Marc’s management experience and expertise in developing IT systems for laboratory based businesses will be an asset in leading our IT Department, and consequently IBBL, to success.“
