EuroCloud Luxembourg Awards 2014

logo-eurocloud EuroCloud Luxembourg (www.eurocloud.lu), the association of the Luxembourg Cloud computing and SaaS industry and member of the pan-European EuroCloud network (www.eurocloud.org), is pleased to announce the launch of the 4th edition of the “EuroCloud Luxembourg Awards” in 2014. This award program is organized with the support of ITnation.lu and the winners will be announced at the “Golden-i” Gala and Awards Ceremony” on 15th of May 2014. Participation is aimed at providers of Cloud services that are active in the local market. The “EuroCloud Luxembourg Awards” is a unique occasion to help increase the visibility of innovative local companies in the field of Cloud computing and SaaS and to help setting up a marketplace for Cloud computing and SaaS applications in Luxembourg. The winners of the EuroCloud Luxembourg Awards will also be given the opportunity to apply automatically for the EuroCloud European Awards 2014, alongside the other European countries. Winners of the local award programs will be presented at the European EuroCloud Congress on 30th September 2014 in Luxembourg.

 Best cloud service for the public sector

We are in search for innovative, future oriented Cloud Services / Cloud Service Use Cases with emphasis on Public Administration, for Public Services provided for citizens or within Public Private Partnership engagements, which have proved their benefits. We will examine the underlying business approaches together with the attractiveness of the services offered and we will be assessing the realistic benefits and the competitive advantages for the public and relevant institutions.

 Best SaaS on the market

This open category caters to SaaS services / SaaS Use Cases , taking into account their specific characteristics, and the best requirements for achieving wide market acceptance. Special characteristics will be determined by looking at the SaaS functionality offered through strong connectivity and interoperability of the service, or a particularly effective use of required Data Center resources. Of course it will also have to comply with the requirements regarding data security and privacy. Legal Compliance is a further fundamental condition for applicants.

 Best IaaS / PaaS on the market 

This open category caters to IaaS or PaaS services / IaaS or PaaS Use Cases, taking into account their specific characteristics, and the best requirements for achieving wide market acceptance. Special characteristics will be determined by looking at the IaaS / PaaS functionality offered through strong connectivity and interoperability of the service, or a particularly effective use of required Data Center resources. Of course it will also have to comply with the requirements regarding data security and privacy. Legal Compliance is a further fundamental condition for applicants.

 Best innovation and business potential 

We are looking for start-up companies distinguishing themselves with innovative and future-oriented cloud services. A particular focus is given to originality and creativity of the Cloud Service and the benefits generated for customers by enabling new technological enhancements or the enablement of synergies in convergent technologies. We are looking for start-up companies distinguishing themselves with innovative and future-oriented cloud services. In this category a particular focus is given to the already achieved or anticipated best business potential due to the originality and creativity of the Cloud Service. This best business potential may be generated by entering new business fields or by new, enhanced ways of optimization in existing business fields.

 Best business impact achieved by Cloud Services  

This category is for early adopters of cloud services – companies who have successfully deployed cloud services and significantly benefited from their use in practice. The achieved user-benefits that companies have obtained whilst using cloud services will be examined.

Who can apply?

Any company that is established in Luxembourg can apply for the EuroCloud Luxembourg Awards. By ‘established’, we mean that the company has to either have adequately staffed headquarters, or office, in Luxembourg and its products or services are offered on the local market. Note that companies that are applying for the category ‘Start-Up’, cannot have been active for longer than 3 years.

Is a Membership of EuroCloud Luxembourg a prerequisite for participation?

Membership of EuroCloud is not a prerequisite for participation.

Do application fees apply?

No. The application for a EuroCloud Luxembourg Awards is free. However a participation fee of €375 will be charged to participants to the EuroCloud Europe Awards and only applicable to the Winners of a national category. It has to be noted that in case of winning the national award, the participation in the European contest is obligatory.

Privacy Notice

All application documents, data and presentations by EuroCloud Luxembourg and the judges are kept confidential and used only for purposes of application processing, appraisal and any presentation as part of the award ceremony. Nominees and winners are determined by the judges. The decision is final. The decision of the panel of judges will be announced after the end of the application deadline to http://www.itnation.lu/eurocloud-awards Should there be less than three companies that apply to a particular category; EuroCloud Luxembourg reserves the right not to award anyone for that category.

The application process consists of an online application form which you will find on: http://www.itnation.lu/eurocloud-awards

Submissions will be accepted from 13th of March 2014. At the end of the form you have the option to send us your complete application documents as a file upload. These should include:

  • A brief profile of your cloud services / your company (max. one A4 page, Font Arial, Size 12).
  • A statement that distinguishes your cloud service / company and why your company should win the award (maximum one A4 page, Font Arial, Size 12).
  • Your application presentation. You are free to present in whatever style or design you feel is most appropriate, but your presentation should contain meaningful and useful information that aims at convincing our judges you should be a winner. Familiarise yourself with the above criteria and make it transparent, why your service or your company has earned a EuroCloud Award.

Keep in mind that application should have maximum 10 pages and be drafted in font Arial, size 12.

Important: Your application can be in English or French. But in case of winning the “EuroCloud Luxembourg” award the application has to be translated in English in order to participate to the European contest. In case of winning the national award, the participation in the European contest is obligatory. The application period begins 13/03/2014 and ends 30/04/2014. The presentation of the Awards will be held on 15/05/2014, at the “Golden-i” Gala and Awards Ceremony in an exclusive setting.
