The Danish Embassy in Luxembourg, The Luxembourg Bankers’ Association (ABBL), the Public Research Centre Henri Tudor and Copenhagen Finance IT Region (CFIR) have the pleasure to invite you to a conference on finance and IT across borders. The conference will include the possibility of b2b meetings with Danish companies and researchers.

Denmark and Luxembourg are small countries with advanced financial sectors that rely on an efficient use of IT processes and infrastructure across borders to other countries, other sectors and other disciplines.

Luxembourg has a financial sector of considerable dimensions. The country is largely dominated by business services, which are heavily reliant on information and communication technologies. Also the area of public-private cooperation is given great attention. Luxembourg economic actors are intensifying the promotion of the innovation in the financial sector by relying on academic structures such as the department SnT (Security, Reliability and Trust) from the Luxembourg University, the Public Research Centre Henri Tudor with its Innofinance program of Luxembourg and on various ICT and finance trade associations such as ABBL, APSI, APSFs and ICTluxembourg.

Denmark has been in the forefront in many ways in digitising processes: all paper based securities were digitised in the mid-eighties, there is one public key infrastructure, NemID, to online banks and the public sector’s services and Denmark has, as the only country in the world, a 100 pct. digitised property registration. These are also some of the reasons that Denmark tops the indices for e-readiness and e-government. Recently, Denmark has been ranked as the second best country in the EU in terms of innovation and research by MERIT and JRC. Thanks to strong universities, Denmark also has a tradition for educating a highly skilled work force as well as developing skilful researchers at the forefront within the fields of process optimization, investment software, data collection in the financial sector, computer science and mathematical finance. This has been the foundation of many skilful Danish companies. In 2009, CFIR was established to improve these positions of strengths and competences and develop the Danish finance and IT.

All in all, there is a basis for cooperation and strong partnerships between Denmark and Luxembourg in the field of finance and IT.
