Hitachi Data Systems Corporation (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501), today announced new capabilities for Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere (HCP Anywhere.) HCP Anywhere software now offers mobile and browser access to data stored in any NAS device, including Hitachi, NetApp and Microsoft® Windows® file servers.

HDS has partnered with Digilink Ltd. to offer a HCP Anywhere Connector to provide full data management of Microsoft SharePoint® content from anywhere on any device (desktop, mobile and browser) at any time. Users can easily access and modify content on any device (even offline) and have it synchronized with SharePoint. The connector includes support for check-in, check-out and conflict resolution.

Users can now use the HCP Anywhere plug-in for Microsoft Outlook® to easily collaborate and share content. In addition, HCP Anywhere supports a range of Microsoft technologies including Windows Phone®, Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) for data protection, and Active Directory® and Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) for user authentication and management.

Mobility is the new normal. In order to be productive, employees need access to their data any time, on any device from anywhere.Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere is an enterprise mobility platform focused on doing just that. Along with the newly announced capabilities, customers also have the freedom to use existing infrastructure and hardware to deploy HCP Anywhere as a software-defined solution.

“Data leakage through employees’ use of consumer-grade file synchronization and sharing programs poses a significant threat to most organizations. Enterprise file synchronization and sharing (EFSS) offerings provide security against this threat, along with benefits such as collaboration capabilities, simplicity and a user-centric design optimized for mobile experiences.” – Gartner, Critical Capabilities for Enterprise File Synchronization and Sharing, Jeffrey Mann, et al., August 13, 2014

“Using Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere, we can share large amounts of data with our customers, partners and suppliers easily and securely, anytime, anyplace and on any device.” – Gregor Kremsmüller, CMO and Executive Board Member, Kremsmüller Industrieanlagenbau KG.

“This latest release evolves HCP Anywhere beyond simple file sync and share to a software-defined, enterprise mobility platform. HCP Anywhere can run using software only and mobilize data from a variety of enterprise content sources such as NAS and content management systems. This helps customers ease the transition from traditional IT environments to more cloud-based delivery models and protect their existing investments in infrastructure and data management processes.” – Peter Sjoberg, CTO, Hitachi Data Systems.
