The aim of our training institute is to create awareness around the larger 21st-century challenges in relation to leadership. From masterclasses and conferences to online learning experiences, we want to open up a new debate in Luxembourg with our services. On 2 October 2019, The HOW Institute is organising a full-day workshop that epitomises the institutes innovative learning strategies around management methods. Held by David Goldsmith, the masterclass focuses on how to take better long-term decisions in an artificial-intelligence, robotic and digital future.

The man behind the masterclass

With over 30 years of experience as a businessperson, consultant and adviser to a global client base, Goldsmith has developed an impressive set of tools outlined in his book Paid to Think: A Leaders Toolkit for Redefining Your Future. We are extremely proud to be working with David, says Houwen. His book is the bible of strategic leadership and the foundation for our masterclass.During the event, Goldsmith gives insights into the challenges ahead of us, sharing proven ways to stay ahead of the changes facing organisations, economies and societies today. Based on the practical approach of Paid to Think, Goldsmith enlightens participants with straightforward information and an instantly applicable toolkit that is likely to produce Ive-never-thought-of-it-that-way moments. The teachings are applicable to multiple industries, environments and backgrounds, enabling leaders to rethink how they address opportunities in their professional role and beyond.

The methods applied by Goldsmith

I realised that seminars taught by an individual standing in front of a class have small success rates, explains David Goldsmith. What I do is engage participants in group and individual exercises, and discussions. We take the core concepts fromPaid to Think and apply them to the challenges were facing today on a global and on a local scale.Divided into three parts, Goldsmiths masterclass is designed to guide leaders to where to shift efforts in their organisation. Its about taking them from who they believe they are, to realising who they are, over to who they could be,says Goldsmith. I teach a new set of realities and show how these methodologies can be incorporated. This allows decision makers to anticipate crucial factors affecting industries and keeping on top of these changes.

Hope for the future

The full-day masterclass is held at Vauban Event Centre in Luxembourg City and is split into six one-hour workshops, an introduction and take-away session. Workshops span topics such as identifying powerful approaches to understanding tomorrow, discovering how technology can leverage organisations and rethinking empowerment to accelerate opportunities, retention and growth. As in Goldsmiths book Paid to Think, the workshops build upon each other to provide concrete take-away. After the masterclass, participants are encouraged to keep using their newly acquired tools with the help of, for example, video programs, online classes and Goldsmith’s book. “I want participants to walk away and feel hope for the future,as Goldsmith puts it.
