One meeting, five questions

After packing the space with laughter and energy, the Hub’s organisers – Carolina Parisi and Patrick Rahme – gathered people around to explain the Hub’s formation with 5 key questions: what is the Global Shapers Community and why it was created, why does Luxembourg need a Global Shapers Community, what makes a Shaper and what a Shaper do?
What is the Global Shapers Community and why it was created?

50% of the world’s population is under 27 years old and recent events have shown the power of young people. Through technology, information and their mobilization they brought change around the world to places that we never thought was possible.

Global network to improve the state of the world

The Global Shaper Community is the first truly global youth network that focus on improve the state of the world. It is an incredibly diverse, innovative, extraordinary group of people who are working hard on their personal lives to make a change for a particular cause and it brings them together.

Why Luxembourg Needs Shapers? Luxembourg is a microcosm of the world in many ways: it is the seat of several institutions of the European Union, a thriving hub of social & finance innovation, and cultural livelihood, but also suffers from e.g. deep problems of socio-economic inequality and educational gaps.

Luxembourg certainly has other bustling young professional groups. Some are intentionally diverse, others have global links, and there are those united by a resolve to act. But no single existing group combines all three, and our city needs that tri-focal lens. Luxembourg’s challenges are visible on the world scene; our city can set an example by tackling challenges with creative thinking and persistence. That’s why our Global Shaper Hub is here: to help our next leaders’ generation, from all backgrounds and all walks of life, to develop themselves and to address and bring solutions to these challenges.
